Bitcoin + multi-chain portfolio

Bitcoin Altcoin Folio

Combine Bitcoin with an altcoin portfolio without flattening different wallet models, fee behavior, custody controls, and strategic roles into one generic token table.

Track the wallet system, not one address

A Bitcoin wallet may manage many addresses and unspent outputs. A watch-only portfolio should cover the wallet's relevant address set or descriptor strategy rather than watching one recent receiving address. Record the wallet label, owner, custody type, backup status, and public tracking method without storing private keys.

Group wallets that share recovery material under one custody dependency. That makes concentration visible while preserving separate balances and purposes for long-term storage, spending, or operational use.

Keep Bitcoin roles explicit

Decide whether Bitcoin is a core crypto allocation, liquidity asset, payment asset, or speculative position in the folio. The role determines its target band, review horizon, and comparison set. Do not let a short-term price move silently change a long-term role.

Report Bitcoin separately and within the total portfolio. A combined view can show ownership, performance, and contribution, while the detail view preserves inputs, outputs, fees, confirmations, and custody context.

Reconcile movements and fees

Moving Bitcoin between your own exchange account and wallet changes location, not ownership. Match the source and destination records, identify change when relevant, and record the network or platform fee as a separate event. Quantity reconciliation should precede price-based performance analysis.

Use consistent timestamps and price policies for historical reports. Keep actual execution data for trades and reference prices for period-end valuation. Missing or stale prices should be disclosed, not silently substituted.
